Does Island Custom Stairs build and manufacture staircases on-site?

Yes. All custom wood staircases are built and assembled within our 5000 square foot facility located in Medford, NY. Our millwork specialists complete the building processes after initial measurements have been taken and staircase designs have been drafted. We take great pride in fabricating custom railings, stairs, balusters, fittings, accent pieces, and raised paneling in our factory.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Estimates are always free of charge.

Will I have a choice of lumber when building my custom staircase?

Yes. With respect to budgetary considerations and time, we can incorporate different species of wood into staircases, treads, risers, stringers, rails, balusters, and custom fittings.

How long will it take to install my staircase?

With respect to the style, design, and the complexity of the build, it generally takes between 4-6 weeks to build a custom staircase. The transportation and installation process usually takes between 1-4 days depending on the size of the project.

Do you provide staircase repair services?

Yes. Upon visiting your home to survey the issue, we can determine the steps necessary to go forward with repair work.

Will I receive a warranty for my custom wood staircase?

Island Custom Stairs provides a (1) one year warranty for all custom built staircases.

Are painting and sealing services included with my wooden staircase?

No. Island Custom Stairs provides only the fabrication, manufacturing, and installation services for our products. We will be happy to suggest a professional painter or sealer to finish the staircase. A quality finish is important to prevent warping and controlling the moisture content within the selected wood species. This applies to both warm and cold environments.

Do you create steel staircases?

Island Custom Stairs does not manufacture or fabricate custom steel staircases. We can incorporate steel accent pieces within our builds or for structural support purposes.

Is there a deposit needed to begin work?

Yes. Island Custom Stairs requires a 50% deposit before beginning any custom stair building project and payment schedules are available for the remaining balances.

Does Island Custom Stairs accept credit cards?

No. We accept checks or bank certified checks only. As we are a custom staircase manufacture all work is made to order and the amount of lumber with respect to its species needs to be considered and purchased prior to fabrication.
