  • Do you build and manufacture staircases on-site?

Yes, all of our custom wood staircases are built and assembled within Island Custom Stairs & Rails’ 5,000-square-foot facility, located in Medford, NY. Our millwork specialists finish the building process once the initial measurements have been taken and the staircase designs have been drafted. Our team takes great pride in fabricating custom railings, stairs, balusters, fittings, accent pieces, and raised paneling in our factory.

  • Will I have a choice of lumber when I hire Island Custom Stairs & Rails to build my custom staircase?

Yes, you do have lumber options. It depends on your budget and timeline. We can use different species of wood for staircases, treads, risers, stringers, rails, balusters, and custom fittings.

  • Does Island Custom Stairs & Rails offer free estimates?

Yes, we do provide free estimates.

  • How long will it take Island Custom Stairs & Rails to install my staircase?

This depends on the style, design, and complexity of the build. In general, we require 4 to 6 weeks to complete a custom staircase. The transportation and installation process takes about 1 to 4 days. Again it depends on the size of the project.

  • Does Island Custom Stairs & Rails provide staircase repair services?

Yes, we do repair staircases. Once we visit your home to survey the issue, we’ll determine what’s needed to make the repairs.

  • Are painting and sealing services included with my wooden staircase from Island Custom Stairs & Rails?

No, we don’t do sealing and painting. We specialize in the fabrication, manufacturing, and installation services for our products. We can recommend a professional painter or sealer to finish the staircase. A quality finish is vital for preventing warping and controlling the moisture content within the wood. This is applicable to warm and cold environments.

  • Is there a deposit needed before Island Custom Stairs & Rails begins my project?

Yes, we require a 50% deposit before beginning any custom stair building project. We can set up a payment schedule for the remaining balance.

  • Do you accept credit card payments?

Yes, Island Custom Stairs & Rails accepts various payment methods. This includes checks, Zelle, and credit cards. As a custom staircase manufacturer, all work is made to order. The amount of lumber and its species are to be considered and purchased prior to fabrication.
